I use my friends to make art about me using my friends. My work considers power, ethics and the nature of my relationships. I like making happy and instagram-worthy sculptures and performance pieces that quietly highlight superficiality, dependency and desire for control- things that seem to have been heightened by the digital age and social media. Through isolating myself on a regular basis, I try to look at my relationships with friends and family as objectively as possible- almost as an observer. My work aims to provide some kind of escapism, but upon further analysis expresses certain positive and twisted aspects of human relationships that I hope is relatable and bittersweet to viewers.
